FIRSTIP was registered in India in 2010 as a charitable non-profit, created to provide a forum for inventors and creative persons and to build the awareness that turns ideas into protected, usable innovation.
Why we were founded
India generates an enormous volume of inventive and creative work outside formal research institutions — on farms, in workshops, in classrooms and in communities that have held knowledge for generations. Very little of it is documented in a form that can be protected, licensed or defended. FIRSTIP was founded to close that gap.
What we offer
- Awareness and education on intellectual property in plain language.
- Training and technical support for inventors, students and institutions.
- Documentation of traditional knowledge with the communities that hold it.
- Promotion of eco-friendly and sustainable technologies.
- Publications, journals and knowledge resources.
